40 Things We Share

Fingers & Toes

Grandma Linda & Steve collecting Finley's prints.

Our midwife said she has never seen such big feet on a baby in all her deliveries. Steve says Fin is going to be a good swimmer.

Finley Mae - is now 12 days old!

Yikes!
Where has the week gone?!

Fin in her sling.

Auntie Dee & Gavin (2 yrs) ... he calls her Mae!

Having a zuzz with her bamboo blanket from Judy.

Chillin with her Pippi outside.

The face I see when I wake up in the morning. She makes my eyes well up...I just LOVE her!

Hanging with her Daddy & Big brother dog ...

Ann - they are reading about baby smiles and when they begin - she smiles in her sleep all the time

Channeling Dr. Evil

Our first night home we had a rough night as my milk had not come in...Finley screamed and boy can she scream. she gets so mad her yells hit two octaves...the next morning she was hoarse from all the yelling and her cry sounded like a raspy voiced Demi Moore.

Thankfully the milk came in later that day and our child has been eating and pooping like a champ!

Finley's fingers and legs are filling out, her ears have grown a little bit and her eyelashes are filling in...honestly it's so amazing just watching her change.  She looks a little different everyday.

Michelley Belly - Bump 40 Weeks 0 Days

As you've probably guessed - I have been M.I.A - due to the timely arrival of Baby P!

Baby P is a SHE!

It is such a pleasure to introduce Miss Finley Mae
Born at 12:47 AM April 10, 2009!
8lbs, 7 oz, 20 inches long, tons of hair (hence the heart burn).

We got our natural delivery and it was Steve who caught her, brought her up to me and then announced to the room "It's a GIRL!"  I can't think of a single moment in my life that can top this one. Not a single moment.

We are so happy with the  L & D team at Women's & Children's at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville NC.  They were supportive, calm, informative going beyond their job descriptions, I am certain, to ensure Finley, Steve and I were adjusting okay.

More to come in the next few posts...although how much I don't know. My sweet baby is eating like a champ and so I am as busy as a one cent a gallon sale at the gas pumps....it does not leave much time for typing.

Thank You to everyone for the outpouring of support, phone calls, well wishes, flowers and LOVE!

Baby P's Pram is Done!

Baby P's Daddy Steve has a very keen interest in sailing. In fact one of these days we plan to sell up and sail away for a while with our family - won't that be a fun blog to read?

He is also learning a wooden boat building craft. He is self taught, ridiculously talented and humble about his work. While I grew baby over the past 40 weeks Steve has been in the workshop building not ONE but TWO wooden boats!

Steve is racing the baby's arrival to finish up his 12ft Sailing dingy - The Shearwater
December 2008

This is the mould the boat is built on top of.
Strips of Okoume Plywood & Oak will be applied.

Near completion this picture was taken about 2 weeks ago.
It's sea worthy - just requires the finishing, rigging and sailors!

Last Fall Baby P's Daddy told me he was going to build the P a cradle shaped like a boat...and then he went out into the workshop and began - just like that!

This is the first post about the Pram.

And here is the final product  ... it will have a rocking devise or swinging apparatus built - baby Daddy is waiting for his Dad to arrive to help him with this project.  A little bonding time required to pre-pare' for fatherhood.

Priming the Pram in the living room...it was too cold outside!

Interior paint applied to the Pram in the Yoga Studio - still too cold outside to cure!

Floor boards installed!

The paint is a traditional colour for a wooden boat - in fact the blue is left over paint from when Steve built "Little Blue" his first wooden boat.  I am sentimental about the first boat.

This Pram is also "sea worthy" ... But don't think for a second it's leaving the house!

Here it is with the bassinet mattress in it.

Next time I post a picture of the Pram  it should have a soundly sleeping little P in it.

"That has to come out where?"  Was her question.

Counting the days to Camembert & Tekka Maki

I am totally obsessed by two things right now:

1. Meeting our baby.

2. This GIANT list of food I will be able to eat again the second the Baby is OUT!

Honestly, I sit on the couch lately and think about Camembert, feta and brie cheese, salads drizzled with blue cheese dressing, sushi - especially the spicy tuna rolls ... lucky for me a state of the art "Heart Centre" opened in the hospital wing beside L & D and they have a killer sushi bar...I know!  How convenient.    The nurses said I could bring some popcycles to the hospital and if I write my name on the box they will store them in the freezer for me ... I wonder if this can apply to a couple of Yungling beer?  I can't think of a more delicious beverage than a beer after labour...this list could go on ... but you get where I am going with it.

For now - the sweetest hubby in the world is picking me up to help me waddle through Food Lion for some more bananas, yogurt, ice cream sandwiches and soy milk.  Ah heart burn soothers.
